Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I wanted to take some time today and catch up. It has been a busy month; I’ve been away from the computer. I was reading some scripture and thought I would write a short post; I suppose really for my own reflection. The month has been difficult in many ways, as have the preceding months, early winter, into the spring, and now into the summer. I’ve been busy and sometimes even those of us with faith in the darkest of moments, have doubts about who we are or what we are supposed to be doing with our lives, especially when so many years have gone by and you begin to wonder what it all means.
I have had an anxious mind lately, for some time in fact, about things that were not important. Instead of scripture and reflection, I focused rather on things of this world which are unimportant. Anxiety about money, paying the bills, work, technology. Some of us make up things in our minds that are not true to worry about. Which is certainly unimportant. I’ve had some frustration, but I feel like today as I began to read scripture, I was reminded to keep my faith about things to come when Christs says:
“And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
LK 11:9-10
And again we are shown in LK 12:22-24;
“And he said to his disciples, ‘Therefore I tell you do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat, nor about your body, what you shall put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse or barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!’”
When I was reading this scripture, I was reminded to not worry about things, they’ll work out. Seek the Kingdom of Heaven instead. So that is what I intend to do. Seek the Kingdom of Heaven, keep Christ in my heart, in my soul, and with all my mind, and to give Him all honor and glory. Thanks be to God.
Yours in Christ,
Br. Michael
