Everywhere Abundance!

Dear Friends,

It is refreshing to speak with others of Jesus Christ. It is a wonder when the belief is true and deep and always searching for the stillness and mercy of God. That is why I turn to nature when I am seeking our Father and his grace. I am confounded at the beauty and perfect chaos that is the natural world that surrounds us and that we are also an integral part of. I marvel at the loving generosity that presents itself in our daily lives. I am reminded to express my gratefulness to the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

When I think of it, I am drawn to the example Christ sets for us when he fed the multitudes as shown to us in Matthew 15:32-39:

“Then Jesus called His disciples to him and said, ‘I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days, and have nothing to eat; and I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.’ And the disciples said to him, ‘Where are we to get bread enough in the desert to feed so great a crowd?’ And Jesus said to them, ‘How many loaves have you?’ They said, ‘Seven and a few small fish.’ And commanding the crowd to sit down on the ground, he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to the crowds. And they all ate and were satisfied; and they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over. Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children. And sending away the crowds, he got into the boat and went to the region of Mag’adan.”

Sometimes in our daily lives in the modern world it is easy to lose sight of the goodness and abundance that does present itself and is limitless. I am guilty of forgetting who provides from time to time, thinking that I may have control over how much and when. I trust in the Lord to provide if I ask and seek His Word. It is easy to desire that which only the flesh desires. It is easy to forget where the abundance exists if we are looking from a more materialistic perspective. We can lose sight of what is important, and our vision can blur when looking at all the modern material world has to offer, instead of putting our energy and focus on what is truly important which is God the Father Almighty. I am reminded of what Christ Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:25-26:

Therefore, I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

I am constantly surprised at the good Lord’s abundance and mercy at the most difficult times in life. I am compelled to act at an opportunity that presents itself often at the most unexpected time if I keep the faith and focus on God’s Word in the gospels. As the days of my life go on (should I be so blessed), and I spend the rest of my time contemplating and reading the scripture and sharing what I find, I look forward to meeting those who have chosen to do the same. Thanks be to God.

Yours in Christ,

Br. M.
